Avoiding the
Intention Trap

Diversity and Inclusion is supposed to be about bringing
people together but the conversations surrounding it are
literally tearing companies and communities apart. It is the
role of leadership to foster environments where tough
conversations can be had, but unfortunately, many leadership
teams are woefully unprepared. Let us help you avoid the trap.

The Pivotal Issue That
Leadership Teams Face

In the United States, 70% of employees and 50% of leaders are currently disengaged in their work, representing between 450 and 550 billion dollars annually in lost productivity to U.S. companies. Contrary to many opinions, the issue of diversity and inclusion does not solely affect minorities and the underrepresented. It is an issue that affects everyone.

While much of the information in the marketplace today focuses on the abundance of data that shows the powerful impact that a diverse and inclusive workplace can have on a team, much of the available training fails to answer the pivotal issue that leadership teams face: How do we run a successful company that has high standards for excellence but is also inclusive,
if inclusion means never making people feel excluded?
  • 71% of organizations aspire to be inclusive, while only 12% have reached a high maturity level.
  • Studies have found that when diversity is lacking, so is engagement.
  • Companies in the top quartile for ethnic and racial diversity in management were 35% more likely to have financial returns above their industry mean.
  • MIT finds that inclusive teams make better business decisions 87% of the time.

Control the Controllable with Results, not the Intention.

Diverse teams successfully solve complex problems when they understand how to interact in an inclusive way, expect to have different views and disagreements, and connect on a personal and emotional level.

Avoiding the Intention Trap

In our Avoiding the Intention Trap workshop, we help teams build the skills required to have the conversations and do the work that is necessary to secure their businesses against the myriad factors that threaten the bottom line each day and to ensure a future where all parties can be more engaged, more productive, and most importantly, more profitable.

Raving Reviews

"I think one of the overall messages of 'this is a complicated and nuanced thing' is refreshing. It helps people have more grace and feel open to sharing without having to worry about putting their foot in
their mouth."

"When Robert talked about the three major factors that make people feel included and engaged (seen/heard, valued, ability to grow), it hit me just how lucky I am to work somewhere that allows for all of those things. I've worked enough places that missed the mark to know how rare it is."

"During this workshop, I learned to look at discrimination from a different point of view and learn to listen when someone is speaking versus coming up with a response."
